It’s a Paint Pour!

4th Street Antiques

Hi, it’s Amy…

Last week I was able to spend time with Lynn from Sweet Peas Charm at her Paint Pour workshop. I was able to bring hubby along for a fun day. We have been wanting to try the paint pour and this was the perfect opportunity. Lynn has a booth at 4th Street Antiques in Old Town Temecula. If you are ever in the area, stop by and check out this great shop. It is located just off of Front street and has many wonderful vendors.

It’s always fun to learn new techniques and work with paint mediums. I am looking forward to doing more with this technique. I love the way these turned out! If you have a chance to join Lynn at her next workshop or even possibly book her for an event, you will not be disappointed!

You can use this technique on all types of furniture, canvas, whatever you can think of…

Wanna know the super secret ingredient? Gotta go to the next workshop…. see below for Lynn’s contact information and event dates.

Hi everyone,

Repurposed Soul

Amy and I actually went together to an event last week. The Vintage Marketplace in Vista, 2040 Santa Fe, was going Friday and Saturday, so Amy and I and Barbie met up and went. The grounds at the Antique Gas and Steam engine museum are so interesting and it sets up the perfect background for this market.

We started with a building first, there are outside areas too, and we were in there over an hour. When you get to know the vendors there is always lots to talk about. We liked the way the booths were in the same places as last time. That way it’s easy to find a vendor you liked before. Then we headed outside passing @mar_lees_inspiration, the first booth you see, which looked so well arranged and decorated.

Go to any length

The next one is set for Oct 12-13 which should be perfect weather, and we love that they are skipping summer. It’s way too hot for customers and for vendors all day. We  also love that this venue has free parking and it is only $5.00.  I, Bonnie, personally hate paying for parking, I’d rather pay it to a vendor. It is beautiful in Vista around the venue too so the drive was better than some we do with only concrete to look at. I can’t wait to see here in Oct. with the pumpkins and fall colors starting to come out.

Rita Reade, the organizer, outdid herself. We loved loved loved the band. Everyone was happier because of it, dancing, singing. Lots more pictures are on the Instagram, we tried to put up as many as possible. We love the variety of dealers and the food was great!! There was an old truck and a settee area set up for pictures too.

Dragonfly Dreams

Lilwoods Vintage

If you haven’t been mark your calendar for Oct.  These events are just getting better and better and this one is the best, it’s one on the favorite list. Every market has their own style and no two are the same anymore, we see them all developing and changing as time goes on. That’s why we try to get to every show we can. Vendors are constantly out picking and getting new vintage pieces for each one.

Plan your summer for some fun like this. Going to a market you lose all sense of time and worries, you just have a good time. At least we always do…

Three Speckled Hens

Three Speckled Hens

Hi everyone,

This is Bonnie and I want to tell you all about Three Speckled Hens in Paso Robles, Calif. Amy was not able to go so my friend Barbie and I went up last week. The show was Sat and Sunday. We went opening day at 10. Big mistake, we should have gone for the early birds. Big sales are happening between 8-10 or early openings at all these markets. We missed seeing a lot of good junk!!!! Note to self…go early next time!!!!

Sweet Peas Charm

The ladies who put this one on are experts. We heard no complaints, no whining, every vendor was happy and making sales. The attendees were thrilled. If you have never gone, and you should, it is on the Paso Robles fairgrounds. They are set in a western theme which totally suits this market. There is tons of shady seating, tons of restrooms, tons of food vendors, and the dealers know what they are doing! Best junk ever but, also the best displays.

Out by the shed

One of my favorite sayings is that we don’t buy much because we’re old (me, not Amy) and our houses are stuffed full of junk. We usually buy one or two small things to remind us of the market or for gifts. This time I wanted to buy everything. The dealers know how busy this place gets and stocked up accordingly.

As busy as they get, I have to commend the vendors on how nice they are. I know I wouldn’t be as pleasant after standing in the heat for several hours for 2 days but, they all answered questions and gave directions to restrooms with smiley faces. I guess if you are going to be a vendor you know what you are in for but, let’s give them a round of applause. I know I couldn’t do it, could you??

Three Speckled Hens

It’s a busy busy month, this weekend we will be going to The Vintage Marketplace Ca in Vista. I love this market and we have followed it from Rainbow to Galway Downs to Rainbow and now to Vista. It also is a trek for us, about 1 1/2 hours each way but, it is worth the drive. It’s open Fri and Sat. Are you going???

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Continuing adventures of We’re Mad About!!

Hi everyone!!

Serendipity Open House

What a great month April has been. We have been overwhelmed at all the events taking place. It seems like summer already! Our schedule has taken us to Las Vegas-Summerlin, to Thousand Oaks, to Redlands and tomorrow we are going to Temecula. @serendipity.vintage.boutique is having their official Open House. The city is coming to cut the ribbon and they will have refreshments and you can see their beautiful brand new store. It’s at 41923 Second St in the old downtown part of Temecula. We went to the old location for years and we are liking the new one. See you there???

Your Vintage Treasure

BarnhouseChicksMarket know how to put on an event. We were there April 21st in Thousand Oaks. Lots of vendors from all areas and they really filled their booths. We knew quite a few so that makes it even more fun. Parking was actually free and easy too. They have a great feel, farm-like (in a park), and friendly. We love this market and try never to miss it. Our girl, @love_picking_junk, Martha was there with a fantastic booth, @repurposed_soul who never ever stops, @yourvintagetreasure with beautiful pillows she makes and so many more.

Vintage Market Days

Summerlin, Nevada is a place we love. Our sister/aunt used to live there so we got to know it. Lucky for us she moves back this week so we are never paying for a hotel there again, because we are going back for sure!!!! One- to go to Boulder City where most of the vintage shops are. Let us know of names, please. Two-to go back to Vintage Market Days there again in Oct, the 26-8. These gals put on shows all over and you can tell they know what they are doing!! Beautiful location, by a mall with every single store you can name, music that was to die for-this guy was sooooo good. The food booths were varied and several of them. The vendors were from several states, so we got to meet more new to us dealers. They were careful to not book the same style of vendor too, which is hard not to do. We loved being there. We will be going back and posting about it beforehand. Be sure you check the Instagram for all the pics we already posted there. These were dealers who know their business well. Some from our area like @nottooshabbybysabby, who had a full booth and was selling so fast she could hardly keep up. She said it was one of the best markets for dealers. So much fun to see people and chat with them.

Triple D Treasures

Red Rooster Vintage Marketplace at 100 W. Stuart, Redlands is growing so fast. We love that the city allows them to close down the street for the day. It makes it so much nicer. They had a nice crowd that kept getting bigger as the day went on., and food that smelled delicous! Talking to the dealers here is great because we love to know what they are making or where they are selling next.  It is every 2nd Sat. so put it on your calendar.

Speaking of calendars, our May one is almost ready. If you are having classes or pop-ups or special events, let us know. We will place them on it. Take advantage of this free promo people!!! Spreading the word is what keeps you in business!!! We’ll tell you where we’re going too.

Our Vintage Emporia

Hi everyone,

For some time we have been asking business owners and vendors to write their stories for us. (Still waiting for some of you!) Today we have one for you. Our Vintage Emporia 719 E Route 66 Glendora Ca., is one of the stores we regularly visit. Watching it evolve has been a fun experience, just as many of the places we go.

In their words:

Vintage Emporia

The Evolution

“What once began as a hobby, has transformed into so much more that we could have imagined. We are amazed and humbled every time a customer walks in.

It began with two companies who started out in warehouses, selling goods every other weekend. We joined forces and opened an actual storefront. Before long, customers became artists and vendors selling their creations and found objects. Each with their own story to tell.

Every inch of the shop is filled with interesting objects-handmade, new and found. Over 20 small businesses sell goods with us, in addition to our own creations. It’s a place of wonder and amazement. You can find everything from handmade reclaimed wood furniture to beautiful vintage pieces to decorate your home. We have unique home decor, handmade gifts, and beautifully curated vintage items. It truly has become a wonderland for the Home.”

Vintage Emporia

This area-Glendora, Covina, Monrovia and surrounding cities- is becoming a mecca for the vintage, antique, reuse, re purpose type of business. We love all these stores and promote them on our Instagram often. So scroll through it, make a plan, and get out and visit them all. Be sure and tell them We’re Mad About sent you!!!

If you are a store near us and want us to stop by or host a giveaway, just send a pm and we’ll be there shortly!! We got a message today about @cinnamonsticks in Los Alamitos from a friend, and are making our plans to go visit them. Thanks to @ madenewhome. Still in the planning but we’ll let you know more asap. Amy discovered a “new to us” “Instagrammer and vendor,@ augustrust2012, and we love their pieces and posted one. More will be coming, they are unique. Bonnie met @catsrustyroses awhile ago and we have posted some of her creations found at @Vintiquealley Riverside. Stopped in @rustygypsy in Upland, hadn’t been there in awhile, great stuff and nice owners. Also met the owner of @fountainvalleyvintage  in Yucaipa, we had fun talking about her workshops and expansion. So it’s been a busy start to the year-getting even busier this weekend at @junkinthetrunkvintagemarket in Pomona. See everyone there???

Junk in the Trunk-Pomona Fairplex

Hi, it’s Bonnie and Amy,

The Vintage Blvd

Vindustrial

Woohoo!!! The big shows are back!! Starting with Junk in the Trunk at the Pomona Fairplex Feb 24-25. We’ll be there on Sat. We love seeing the vendors and the crowds at these events. Everyone brings their best stuff and the booths are just beautifully arranged.

Last year we went and saw so many vendors we knew. Attached are a few pictures. It is great to talk to them and see what they have picked, painted, produced and come up with each time. The Fairplex has a nice atmosphere with music and food vendors. For some of these vendors, this is the only show they are doing so it’s nice to catch up. Among our favorites on the list this time are Miller Rustic Design, Seahouse Design, the Junk Diva, Lilwoods Vintage, Ripe Design, Anything Rustic-really they are all our favorites. It’s $8.00 a day, early bird $20 if you buy before 2/19/18. Parking is unfortunately $12, but that goes to the venue, not the show. It’s worth it to see all the vendors together, imagine how many stores and pop-ups you would have to drive to, to see this many and they are the best of the best!! Check out all this years vendors on their website, www.junkinthetrunkvintagemarket.com

Paper Jar

So get out your calendars, get your lists ready, and get over there. We’re wearing our comfortable shoes , and bringing our smiles. We’re so happy about this show!!!
