Friends along the way

Welcome back!!

We are thinking of adding “problem solvers” to our business card. This blog has gone through so many changes during our short venture into blogging. We have finally got it finished and this is the first new post. We would love it if you would share it. We lost a lot of our subscribers during the turmoil and would die to get them back. The aim of the blog is to be able to talk about vendors in more depth and show more venues and creations. We love our Instagram followers and hope you will all come take a look.

One of the byproducts of starting this blog and Instagram soon became the people we are meeting on the way and the friends we are making. When you have a common interest, in our case, finding old junk, saving old junk, redoing old junk, re-purposing old junk, drooling over old junk; it’s easy to bond with others who share your love of that same thing. The dealers we have met have all been gracious, welcoming, helpful, and even anxious to point us towards others. (There really is no competition since most of these people are friends and if we don’t encourage each other what’s the point?) For instance, Bobbi at Vintique Alley, Riverside fills our hands full of other dealers’ business cards and flyers whenever we go. To appreciate the work of someone else is really a blessing. And every dealer we went to sang her praises.

We love it when we get a good picture, stick it on Instagram, and someone asks questions about it. We dislike it after we leave the venue and have no idea where to find the dealer. Business cards really help. That’s another reason we love it when dealers with booths have their business name right out front, and ask you to follow on Instagram. Don’t have to ask us twice! We are following every dealer we have come across, and liking your posts. We try to get onto all your social media-often we find about new venues-sometimes it’s hard because your business name and Facebook are not the same. Something to think about when starting a business.

Sugar Molds are from Junk_in_Grammies_Trunk

I spent some time with Yolanda from B Street Junky’s warehouse, Angela from Junk_in_Grammies_Trunk and Lynette from Sirenes, at the warehouse sale at B Street Junky. Watch for events there upcoming in Ontario. (hint hint, Nov. wine and crackers) Those gals have so much info on what dealers are around, new shops opening, flea markets- it’s good to share. Behind the Picket Fence, Driving Miz Daisy and Long Beach Antique Market are all places most of these dealers go to, check their Instagram or Facebook or web sites.

At Vintage California, a store in Orange, we ran into a booth by Junkyard Junky, Kathi, who we often see at Driving Miz Daisy. Many of these dealers were at The Vintage Marketplace at Galway Downs in Temecula Sept. 9 and 10th. Next one is Dec. 2-3. What a great venue. It’s a lot of fun to see the new items and the way dealers arrange their booths. This is where we first met Vindustrial _Supply_co, consisting of Bow and Sharon. They might get the award for nicest couple around, and their picks are so unique. Amy is still crying over their green cabinet she missed out on.

Inspired Market, Yorba Linda and Rancho Cucamonga, led us to some dealers we hadn’t seen before. Chelsey of ChelsB Creations, Soraya of Reinvented and my favorite, Lana from Bougie Bottles. (I have a candle burning right now, Lana). Also Renee from RXR where we bought our hearts and arrows. We stop and chat with Peggy at Antique_Love somewhere almost every week, try to wave at Far Away Hood-they are usually way too busy to interrupt- and love seeing Boarding House Broads, funniest gals around. There are about a million more, but we need room to put up pictures so we will stop there, but rest assured we remember all of you and hope to see you soon. So here’s to: #junk #antiques #vintage #flea markets #new friends #vendorswelove #ilovesundays #repurposed #reloved #reused #saveourplanet #junkinisfun #shopsmall #repaintedfurniture #garden #farm #salvage #cottage #shabby… Whatever you find, whatever you sell we love it all. Nice meeting all of you, see you somewhere on a Sunday soon.

Thanks for reading…Bonnie
