Driving Miz Daisy

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day. As a mom I usually spent this day on the couch with a sick child. No joke, I can remember at least 8 Mother’s Days caring for a little one. Our duties never stop, not even for a day we are to be celebrated. So it was wonderful when I got to go out and spend the day with my mom, husband, and my step-daughter. My daughter lives far away and my son is active duty military, but they sent the sweetest most heart felt messages. (Happy Mama)

My mom (Bonnie) has been telling me about Driving Miz Daisy for months! So, I was quite excited to go and see for myself. They have lots of vendors, not overwhelming, but like the Three Bears…just enough. Plus, food trucks!!!! How can you go wrong with this combination? To top it off, it’s FREE to attend and park. SWEET!

Driving Miz Daisy is held the 2nd Sunday of each month, at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. Morning with Miz Daisy, afternoon at the beach. Sounds like perfection to me.

Among the vendors are those that custom create their wares and those that give new life to salvaged or forgotten pieces. My mom has gotten to know (Eck..my English professor would not forgive this) several of the vendors that travel to these shows. The first she wanted to show me was Far Away Hood Designs.

Noelle and Kelly are the mother-daughter duo behind this brain child. They create custom signs on the spot, while you wait. LOVE. You pick out the wood background and the letters or symbols and such, and they assemble for you. They are an outgoing adorable pair. Denise, their “trusty assistant” is so sweet and helpful. We ended buying several pieces to adorn the barn door we are building. Each piece represents one of our children or our marriage. Family is most important. Check these ladies out at FarAwayHood.com and on Instagram.

The next booth I fell in love with had this incredible salvaged antique miniature church. I later found out it had found a new home, JOY! Sweet Peas Vintage Finds. Another mother-daughter team, (see the theme here?) Tammie and Helen. The sweetest ladies and they laughed at my joke! (My husband won’t let me play with power tools, because he pays for the health insurance and knows I’m a klutz) These two take some road trips, I wish I could join them on. They truly have amazing finds. They are also on Instagram SWEET_PEAS_VINTAGE_FINDS.

You can also find both of these vendors through our Instagram, weremadabout

I really enjoyed spending the day with my mom. We got her a large hanging succulent basket for her porch and treated her to lunch. I think she was pretty happy. She definitely deserves to be spoiled.

I hope all you Mama’s had a wonderful Mother’s Day as well.
